Tips for Court

If you decide to file for a protective order there are some general tips to follow.

When getting ready for court

  1. Make sure you are on time.

  2. Don’t plan on bringing children to court.

  3. If you have any evidence, bring it with you (pictures, phone messages clothing ect.) to prove your case.

  4. Wear clean, conservative clothes. Wear what you would to a job interview.

While in court

  1. It is very important to tell the truth and stick to the facts while in court.

  2. Use dates and be specific with your facts.

  3. Respectfully answer the questions the judge asks you.

  4. It is very important that you not argue with either the judge or the defendant.
